Are you getting tired of dealing with the comment spammers on your WordPress blog? Well, if you are then you have visited the right.
In this article, we will show you how to remove website URL from WordPress comment form to discourage the spam comments on your web blog.
We will explain how to remove the website URL from WordPress comment section by:
- Adding Codes on theme’s function.php file

But before we go through steps, let’s talk about:
What’s a spam comment? Why do people submit spam comments on the blog/post?
Spam comments are unwanted off-topic/irrelevant comments submitted manually by the users. These comments add no value to the discussion and approving them won’t make any sense for your blog/post.
By default, WordPress comes with inbuilt comment form with different fields: name, email, website URL, and the comment box. When displaying the comments, WordPress will automatically hyperlink the name of the commenter with the provided website URL. These hyperlinks act as the backlinks which are good for the SEO of the spammer’s website. So, this is why the blackhead SEO marketers and newbie bloggers submit spam comments on blog/post.
