Do you want to delete all your pending comments in WordPress?
Comments can be a great way to define a trustworthy relationship between bloggers and blog readers. When you decide to enable comments on your page and posts there will be much more interaction. Those interactions will eventually help you to engage more traffic to your website.
Not only that, even from the blog reader’s point of view, when they have any confusion they can ask about those problems directly to the bloggers. So, the Bloggers can provide clear and right instruction within a very less period of time.
But, the only problem is that there are a lot of spam comments. Once you show the right recent comments and moderate them you finally need to delete the pending comments to keep your site more organized.
Your website might have hundreds and thousands of spam comments. Marking them spam one-by-one might take a lot of time. So, in this article, we will briefly explain to you two easy ways to delete all your pending comments. Be sure, to use the most appropriate method.
Method I: Use a WordPress Plugin to Delete all Pending Comments
Method II: Delete Comments Manually
Method I: Use a WordPress Plugin to Delete All Pending Comments
This method is one of the easiest methods to delete all of your pending comment on your WordPress website. You just need to install the plugin and make some changes in its settings and you are done.
Make sure to backup your WordPress website before beginning this process.
First of all, log in to the Dashboard of your WordPress website. Then search for the Delete Pending Comments WordPress plugin.
Once you see the plugin, click on the Install Now>>Activate button to install this plugin.
Additionally, if you have any confusion while installing the plugin go through our article “How to Install New Plugin to the WordPress Site”
Now click on the Comments option at the left sidebar of the page. After that, click on the Delete Pending Comments option.
Now you will see a box where you need to fill up the text “I am sure I want to delete all pending comments and realize this can’t be undone” in order to delete the pending comments. Or you can simply copy(ctrl c) and paste(ctrl v) the text.
Once you are done click on the Delete Pending Comments button at the end of the page.
This is the end of the first method, by changing some settings you will be able to delete the pending comments of your website.
Method II: Delete Comments Manually
To be honest this method is more applicable if you have a starter website with less number of comments.
In order to delete comments manually click on the Comments option at the left sidebar of your Admin Dashboard.
Over there you can see the Pending tab where you can find all of the comments that are probably not necessary to reply to.
Firstly, you can only see 20 comments that are pending. In order to change its number, you need to click on Screen Options at the right top corner of the page.
Select the Number of items per page as per your own wish. Once you are done click on the Apply button. Remember that you can select up to 999 comments per page.
Tick the box next to Author to select the comments as per the number you have chosen. Then click on Bulk actions.
In the Bulk actions dropdown select the Move to Trash option. Finally, click on the Apply button.
If you have more than 114 comments do the exact step again until you have zero pending comments.
All the deleted comments will remain in the trash for 30 days. However, if you want to delete the comments permanently then switch to Trash>>Empty trash button.
After this, you will have zero comments as you can delete all of your pending comments from your WordPress website.
Wrapping Up
If you have thousands of pending comments then be sure to use the first method where you simply need to install a plugin and change some settings. Or if you have limited or hundreds of pending comments then the second method will be more applicable for you.
Lastly, we hope this article helped you to delete all of the pending comments on your WordPress website with ease.
